To everyone else who is or has been abused, whether mentally or physically or both
All right, because I know I forget and feel paranoid and doubt my own memory because of this shit, I’m gonna post this as a shout-out to everyone who has an abuser or abusers in their life:
Just because they’re not abusing you RIGHT THIS SECOND does not mean they’re not abusive.
Just because they haven’t actively abused you in days, or weeks, or months, doesn’t mean they’re not or never were abusive.
Just because they do something nice for you does not mean they’re not abusive.
You are not crazy, you are not making things up, you are not lying (to yourself or others) when you say that your abusers are just that. In a lot of cases, these are the very people who have taught you to doubt your memory. These are very real things, that did happen, that were terrible, and no amount of time between the last incident and now can change that.You deserve love and life and happiness, to feel cared for and safe, to not feel guilty about everything, to have people around you that are good for you.
