to lessen stress, you need to learn how to manage it. everyone is effected by stress differently, so not everyone will manage stress in the same way. by learning how to manage your stress, the negatives that come with stress will be reduced and you will be better prepared to handle stress in the future!
(some) ways to manage stress:
- talk to others: by talking to someone, your body is able to release hormones that aid in decreasing stress levels. talking to someone you trust may also help you solve/fix whatever is causing your stress, as you will probably get new thoughts and ideas on solutions to cope with stressors or how to delete the stressor
- exercise: when you exercise, your body creates endorphins that help you sleep and decrease stress! exercising also makes you more alert and improves overall function
- keep a planner: i cannot stress enough how helpful this is. it doesn’t even have to be a planner; just writing down a to do list of what you need to get done will help immensely. by keeping a list of what you need to accomplish, you are improving your time management and therefore helping to keep your stress levels down
- avoid stressors: if a certain activity, person, or thing stresses you out, do things to decrease the amount of time you come into contact with the stressor. learn how to say no to situations that could lead to an overload of stress and take control of your life by doing things to change/remove stressors
